We received correspondence from Nick Lavies of Worthing in connection with the article by Radha Ravi and Tanya Howell on ‘Anaesthesia for paediatric ear nose and throat surgery’ (CEACCP 2007; 7(2): 33–37). Dr Lavies commented on the issues of airway management, management of the bleeding tonsil, and anaesthesia for oesophagoscopy. He questioned the statement that ‘only 16% of anaesthetists used the reinforced laryngeal mask airway routinely.
